How to choose the correct size rotary converter!
First thing that has to be done is, find out the startup load for the piece of equipment that you plan to use the rotary converter on ( light, normal or heavy ) refer to chart 1 below and find the piece of equipment that you will be using the rotary converter on. Then look to see what column your piece of equipment is listed under. After you know the startup load for your piece of equipment ( light, normal or heavy ), refer to Table 1 and look in the column for the type of startup load that you have ( light, normal or heavy ). Look down that column until you find your horsepower list ( if you can not the exact horsepower listed, used the next size up ). Than look to the left of Table 1 and you will see what horsepower and frame size of the rotary converter you should have for your type of three phase equipment. A example : let's say the application is a 3 Hp mill ( light startup load ) from Table 1 you would need a 5 Hp three phase motor with a frame size of 184T, by using this motor in conjunction with a 5 Hp rotary control panel ( RP05 ) or a 5 Hp phase kit ( RK05 ) you would have a 5 Hp rotary phase converter to run the 3 Hp mill application.
